147-A Beginning Tap Dance - Fall 2024 
Davis & Elkins College,  - Elkins, WV

This movement class covers the basics of tap dance technique and history. While no dance experience is required, some dance experience is highly encouraged as this class is primarily movement based as opposed to lecture and students will be required to perform. Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3-4:30pm, Fall 2024 term (August 19, 2024 - December 12, 2024) on the campus of Davis and Elkins College. Register through D&E.

FALL 2024 Wellness Class
Davis & Elkins College,  - Elkins, WV

DAY/TIME TBD  in the Creative Commons (bottom floor of Myles).

 

Do you have tension in your shoulders, tight hips, or knots in your calves? This class is designed to gently warm up the muscles and then focus on stretching out areas of concern. Perfect for those who sit behind a computer most of the day, this class is for all ages. Stretches using chairs and props can accommodate anyone who doesn’t want to go to the floor. Class is Free for all. Runs August 19 - December 12, 2024.

This movement class introduces students to various musical theatre dance styles including ballet, tap, jazz, and social dances. Musical theatre dance history will be taught and discussed through the art of dance. within the modern dance movement. While no dance experience is required, some dance experience is highly encouraged as this class is primarily movement based as opposed to lecture and students will be required to perform and participate in mock auditions. Class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 2-4:30pm, spring 2024 term (January 15, 2024 - May 10, 2024) on the campus of Davis and Elkins College. Register through D&E.

World Cultural Festival Performance w/ Sahara Dance

The weekend of September 29th and 30th, 2023 Sahara Dance will perform a masterpiece choreography by Jillina as part of the "Cultural Olympics", representing Middle Eastern dance on the global stage. You can watch the recording of the live stream performance HERE.

Fall 2023 Wellness Class

Get a gentle workout while learning the basic movements of Egyptian dance. Bellydance is a beautiful dance form that helps you connect with your body, improve posture, and build strength and flexibility. No previous experience necessary, and all body types and fitness levels are welcome. All movements will be broken down step-by-step with an emphasis on dancing and having fun.

120-01 Fundamentals of Modern Dance - Fall 2023

This class is intended to introduce students to various choreographers and techniques within the modern dance movement. Class meets on Wednesdays at 2-4:30pm, fall 2023 term (August 23, 2023 - December 13, 2023) on the campus of Davis and Elkins College. Register through D&E.

FREE.  No experience required.  In this class, you'll learn some quintessential Egyptian style movements, wrapped into fun, danceable combos. You'll leave class with a short choreography and a good workout.  All levels welcome, adjustments made for more experienced dancers.  Register for class on the Class Registration page.  The ZOOM link to join class will be sent out approximately 1 hour before class to the email address you provide during registration.

SharQui - The Bellydance Workout

Join Al-Anqa on ZOOM for a 30 minute SharQui workout on the 3rd Friday of each month at 6pm.

 

Registration by Donation.  Once registered, you will be sent a confirmation email. The ZOOM link to join class will be sent out 15 minutes prior to your scheduled class time. Registration closes 24 hours prior to class.  SharQui is a fresh approach to fitness that will not only get you fit but you’ll have fun doing it. Get acquainted with your inner Shakira. We are definitely not in Kansas anymore! Join a beautiful cast of dancers as we travel over the rainbow. Inspired by world fusion and Middle Eastern dance traditions, Jillina's BDExperience reimagines this classic tale, incorporating Oriental bellydance, Tribal Fusion and Folkloric dance to an original score by Paul Dinletir and featuring new music by Khader Ahmad.  The Emerald City has never been quite this enchanting.
